The Universal Law of Gravitation:
" Any two bodies in the universe attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them" Isaac Newton realised through the apple incident that if gravity can reach all the way up to the top of a tree, maybe it can reach all the way up to the moon. He realised that this is what causes the orbit of the moon around the Earth. His law states that the gravitational field is a vector field, that describes the gravitational force which would be applied on an object in any given point in space, per unit mass. It is equal to the gravitational acceleration at that point. His law still continues to be used as an excellent approximation of the effects of gravity. A good example of gravity in an entertaining form is the movie 'Gravity'. |
